1. What this policy covers

This policy explains how FindSpot uses cookies and similar technologies on the findspot.io website and in the FindSpot app. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains everything else we do with personal data.

Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, software development kits in apps, and device identifiers — do much the same thing in a different way. The rules described here apply to all of them, not only to cookies in the strict sense.

2. Our current position

findspot.io does not set analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies. Because we do not use them, we do not ask you for cookie consent, and you will not see a consent banner. Under Danish rules we are not allowed to ask for permission we do not actually need.

This is a deliberate choice. We would rather keep the site simple than track visitors who are only trying to read about the app.

3. What we would use, and when we would ask

If we introduce cookies or similar technologies in future, they would fall into these categories:

Strictly necessary. Needed for the site or app to work at all — for example, keeping you signed in, remembering your cookie choice, or protecting forms against abuse. These do not require your consent, because without them the service you asked for cannot be delivered.

Analytics. Used to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and where things break. These require your consent.

Advertising and measurement. Used to show promotions and to measure whether they worked. These require your consent.

Embedded content. Videos, maps or forms provided by other companies, which may set their own cookies when loaded. These require your consent.

Before we set anything in the last three categories, we will ask you first through a consent banner. Rejecting will be exactly as easy as accepting — one click, on a button of equal prominence. Nothing optional loads until you have chosen. If you say no, we will not ask again for at least six months, and we will remember any choice you make for up to twelve months before checking again.

Declining optional cookies does not limit your access to the website or to any feature of the app.

4. Cookies in the app

Apps do not use cookies, but the same legal rules cover information stored on or read from your device. In the FindSpot app this may include software components used for purposes such as crash reporting, performance monitoring and analytics, and — only where you allow it — your device’s advertising identifier.

We ask for your consent to anything that is not strictly necessary. On iOS, we also request tracking permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining does not reduce your access to any feature.

5. Changing your mind

If a consent banner is in use, you can reopen it and change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and most browsers let you block them entirely — though blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of a site from working.

In the app, you can change your choices in your device’s privacy settings, and you can contact us at hello@findspot.io if you want anything cleared.

6. The rules we follow

This policy reflects section 10 of the Danish Cookie Order (Cookiebekendtgørelsen), which implements Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, together with the consent standards set by the GDPR. Where the law changes — the EU is currently considering moving these rules into the GDPR itself — we will update this policy.

7. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If we begin using cookies that require consent, we will ask you before setting them, not simply update this page.
