Terms and Conditions
Findspark ApS (FindSpot) Last updated: 9 August 2026 Effective from: 31 August 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement between you and:
Findspark ApS CVR no. 39312573 Lunagervej 22, 2650 Hvidovre, Denmark Email: hello@findspot.io
They govern your use of the FindSpot mobile app, the findspot.io website and related services (the Service). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
2. What FindSpot is
FindSpot is a discovery platform for university students. It presents a feed of content published by students, student organisations, university bodies and local businesses, shaped by your study programme, the communities you follow and your interests.
FindSpot is a developing product. Features, layouts and publishing options change as we improve it, and these Terms describe how the Service works in general rather than fixing a particular version of it.
FindSpot is a place to discover things, not the organiser of them. We do not run, host, verify or endorse the events, groups, offers or activities described in the content you see. If you attend an event or take up an offer you found through FindSpot, that is an arrangement between you and the publisher, not with us.
3. Who can use FindSpot
To use FindSpot you must:
- be 18 years of age or older;
- be a current student, staff member or recognised alumnus of a university where FindSpot operates, or an authorised representative of an organisation or business we have approved;
- hold a valid university email address where we require one for verification;
- not have been previously banned from the Service, and not be barred from using it under applicable law.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation or business, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf, and “you” means both you and that entity.
4. Your account
You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login details secure. Tell us at hello@findspot.io if you think someone else has accessed your account.
We verify student status through your university email address, and we may verify organisations through documentation or a university contact. Verified status may be withdrawn if the criteria are no longer met.
Do not create multiple accounts, share your account, or transfer it to anyone else.
5. Publishing on FindSpot
5.1 Choosing your audience
When you publish, you choose who sees it. You can publish to study programmes — one or as many as are relevant — or to a single interest community at a time. We may offer further audience options, and may adjust how these work, as the product develops.
5.2 Publishing and moderation
You can publish without prior approval, including to your whole campus. We do not review content before it goes live.
Any user can report content they believe is illegal or breaches these Terms, and we review reports and act on them after publication. We may also apply reasonable limits — for example on how often you can publish — to keep the feed useful and to prevent spam.
5.3 Your content remains yours
You keep all rights in the content you publish. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display purposes, publish and distribute your content in order to operate and improve the Service.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except that copies may remain in backups for a limited period, content other users have saved may remain in their copy, and we may retain records of removed content where required for moderation or legal purposes.
We will ask you first before using your content in marketing or promotional material.
5.4 Your responsibilities for what you publish
By publishing content, you confirm that:
- it is yours, or you have the rights and permissions needed to publish it, including from anyone appearing in a photograph;
- it does not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- any factual claim it makes about an event, price, date or venue is accurate;
- it complies with these Terms and with applicable law.
Because content is published without prior review, you are responsible for what you post. Please take that seriously.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- post illegal content, or content that incites, facilitates or threatens illegal acts;
- harass, bully, stalk, threaten or intimidate anyone;
- post hateful content targeting people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age;
- post sexual content, or any content that sexualises a minor;
- post content depicting or glorifying violence or self-harm;
- impersonate another person, an organisation, or FindSpot itself;
- post someone else’s private information without their consent, including photographs, phone numbers, addresses, timetables or whereabouts;
- post spam, chain content, pyramid or referral schemes, or repetitive commercial content outside an advertising agreement with us;
- advertise commercially without an agreement with us, or present paid content as though it were organic student content;
- promote the sale of illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, academic fraud such as essay-writing or exam-sitting services, or financial scams;
- manipulate engagement through fake accounts, coordinated activity, bots or artificial interactions;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or systematically extract data from the Service, or use it to train machine learning models, without our written permission;
- reverse engineer, decompile, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Service to recruit for or promote an organisation while misrepresenting what that organisation is.
Content about nightlife and licensed venues is permitted where lawful and aimed at an adult audience, but must not encourage excessive or unsafe consumption of alcohol, and must comply with Danish rules on the marketing of alcohol.
7. Reporting, moderation and appeals
This section reflects our obligations under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the Digital Services Act.
Reporting content. Anyone can report content using the report function in the app or by emailing hello@findspot.io. Please tell us where the content is, why you believe it is illegal or breaches these Terms, and how we can reach you. We will confirm receipt without undue delay, review the report carefully and without arbitrary decisions, and tell you the outcome and how to challenge it.
Action we may take. Where content breaches these Terms or the law, or an account is misused, we may remove or restrict the visibility of content, reduce its position in the feed, restrict publishing rights, or suspend or terminate an account. Where the law requires it, we will report the matter to the authorities.
Reasons for decisions. If we restrict your content or your account, we will tell you what we did and why, which rule or law applies, and whether automated tools were used, unless the law prevents us from telling you.
Appeals. You may appeal any moderation decision within six months by emailing hello@findspot.io or using the appeal option in the app. Someone not involved in the original decision will review it, and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can. If you remain dissatisfied, you may bring the dispute to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act, or to the courts.
Repeat misuse. After warning you, we may suspend for a reasonable period accounts that repeatedly post manifestly illegal content, and users who repeatedly submit clearly unfounded reports.
Contact for authorities. Authorities, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services can reach us at hello@findspot.io, in English or Danish.
8. Advertising and sponsored content
Local businesses, student organisations and university bodies may pay to promote content in FindSpot. Every paid placement is labelled as an advertisement and identifies who paid for it and the main reasons it was shown to you.
We do not target advertising using special category data, and we do not use profiling-based advertising towards users we know to be minors. Our Privacy Policy explains how sponsored content is selected and what advertisers receive.
We are not responsible for advertisers’ goods, services, offers or conduct. Any purchase or booking you make is a contract between you and the advertiser. Advertisers contract with us under a separate agreement, not under these Terms.
9. University partnerships
We work with universities and student organisations to help improve campus life. As part of these partnerships we may provide them with aggregated, anonymised statistics about engagement on the platform. These never identify individual students, and never affect your studies or your standing at your institution. Our Privacy Policy sets out how this works.
10. Meeting people and attending events
FindSpot helps you find things happening around you, but it does not organise, vet or supervise them.
- Meeting people you do not know carries risk. Use your judgement, meet in public places where you can, and tell someone where you are going.
- Check details such as times, prices, venues and entry requirements directly with the organiser. Content on FindSpot can be inaccurate or out of date.
- Verification means that a person holds a valid university email address. It tells you nothing about their character or intentions.
- If something happens that puts you at risk, contact the emergency services first, and then report it to us at hello@findspot.io.
11. Fees
FindSpot is free for students and student organisations. We may introduce paid features in future. If we do, we will tell you the price and the terms clearly before you buy anything, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first.
Where you buy a digital service as a consumer, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law. If you ask us to begin supplying the service immediately and acknowledge that you lose that right once supply is complete, the right ends accordingly. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to those platforms’ terms, and refunds for them are handled by the platform.
12. Intellectual property
The FindSpot name, logo, app design, software and all other material we provide belong to Findspark ApS or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of anything to you. You may not use our name or logo without our written permission, except to refer to the Service factually.
13. Third-party content and links
The Service contains content published by others and links to third-party websites. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for them. Your dealings with third parties are between you and them.
14. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep FindSpot available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. FindSpot changes over time: we add, alter and remove features, adjust how content is presented and ranked, and change publishing options as the product develops. Where a change materially reduces the Service, we will give reasonable notice, unless the change is urgent for security or legal reasons.
15. Ending your use of FindSpot
You may delete your account at any time from within the app, or by emailing hello@findspot.io.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if your account is used unlawfully, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. Except where immediate action is necessary, we will give you notice and a chance to respond, and you may appeal under section 7.
When your access ends, your right to use the Service ends. Sections 5.3, 12, 16, 17, 18 and 21 continue to apply.
16. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as it is and as available. We do not warrant that content on the Service is accurate, complete, lawful or current, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits your mandatory rights as a consumer under Danish or EU law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Our liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of data, loss of opportunity or reputational harm, and we are not liable for the acts, omissions or content of other users, advertisers, organisations or event organisers.
Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 100. For consumers in the EU, this limit applies only so far as Danish law permits.
18. Indemnity
If you use the Service on behalf of a business, organisation or institution, you agree to cover our losses, claims and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms. This section does not apply to consumers.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will publish the updated version and notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect, explaining what has changed. If you do not accept the new Terms, you may delete your account before they take effect. Continuing to use FindSpot afterwards means you accept them.
Routine changes to features, layouts and publishing options are covered by section 14 and do not require new Terms.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer resident in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
Disputes will be heard by the Danish courts, with the City Court of Copenhagen as the court of first instance. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
Please contact us first at hello@findspot.io — most issues are resolved this way. If we cannot reach agreement, consumers in Denmark may complain to Center for Klageløsning, Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg (naevneneshus.dk). Consumers elsewhere in the EU can find a competent dispute resolution body through the European Commission’s consumer redress information.
21. General
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service.
- If any provision is found invalid, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not waive it.
- You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to an affiliate, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- These Terms are written in English. Where we publish a translation and there is a conflict, the English version applies, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
22. Additional terms for apps downloaded from the Apple App Store
- These Terms are between you and Findspark ApS only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Findspark ApS, not Apple, is responsible for claims relating to product liability, failure to meet legal requirements, and consumer protection or privacy law.
- Findspark ApS, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government prohibited-parties list.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
